Cladding or Overlays generally applies to any of a number of product or processes that deal with either protection from wear or corrosion. This slide presentation deals with corrosion protection and more specifically with Stainless Overlays. As you can see the variety of claddings or overlays are quite varied. Basically the product is a combination of a base plate or substrate that is usually mild steel. Alloy base plates can be used. The overlay in this case will be one of number of stainless steels in the austenitic family. This includes most of the 300 Series Stainless Steels.
