By increasing the Amps or Volts on the welding machine the corrosion resistance of the overlay is affected. Heat again is the culprit. Because increasing these parameters increases the heat of the overlay and in turn slows the cooling rate of the overlay, Carbides are formed and corrosion will accelerate.
